Tēna koutou katoa.
I have a 30-year background in nursing in varying roles and health management. I am currently part of the Family Support Team at Te Omanga Hospice where I have been the Spiritual Care Coordinator for four and a half years. Within this role I co-facilitate our Hospice-wide Spiritual Carer Network. I am trained in the practice of Spiritual Direction (2018-19) and use these skills in my role as well as have my own private practice.
My home is the Te Awa Kairangi valley where I live as part of a small community connected with the Anglican Diocese although I was raised in a Presbyterian/Methodist home in Upper Hutt. I have lived an intentional faith communities in Aotearoa New Zealand as well as in Vancouver, Canada where I was studying theology at Regent College. I am a member of the Association of Christian Spiritual Directors (ACSD) and of Spiritual Directors International (SDI) and am involved in bringing SDI to the Aotearoa NZ context as a resource for professional development. I am passionate about integrating a wider understanding of the practice of spiritual care into the healthcare system supporting a way to articulate it in a language that is authentic to people.
I identify as Tangata Tiriti and am on a personal te reo journey. In my down time I love reading and gardening and walking in nature which resources me deeply. Most often you will find me at home with a cuppa, a book and my feline friend Whiskey.
