Rev. Wyatt Butcher
President
Wyatt has had a varied career included farming, valuation, property management, and teaching before joining Christian ministry in the mid-1990s.
The passing of his son in 1999 led him to become the Chaplain for the Specialist Mental Health Services of the Canterbury District Health Board, working mainly in inpatient care before his retirement in 2025 after 22 years of service.
He holds degrees in Commerce, Christian Ministry, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching, plus a Master of Health Science and a Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision.
As well as being the President of the New Zealand Healthcare Chaplains Association, he is on the editorial board of Health and Social Care Chaplaincy. He has published a journal article from his master’s research and contributed to books on paediatric chaplaincy and nursing.
Wyatt is married, has two grown daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and building custom motorcycles and an off-road vehicle.
